Imagine coming home and learning all
your family photos had been destroyed.
Years of irreplaceable memories gone without warning or recourse. I don't mean to paint a bleak picture, just one that has happened to many people including myself. One day we came home to learn that a neighbor's child had placed a water hose in our basement window well and filled the small basement with several feet of water. This was the same place we had felt safe storing everything from photos, baseball cards, sewing patterns, and many things from my fathers time spent in Brazil on a mission for our church.

Since we started in October, we have scanned tens of thousands of slides, the number changes so drastically and so fast that I don't feel like updating it but suffice it to say we have some very pleased customers. We have also not only taken over the eBay market, we changed the going rate for many companies and encourage you to take a look at completed auctions to see if you can even find anyone else successfully competing with us. This was not intentional on our part, I just felt that $0.35 per slide was too much and knew I could do it better and cheaper while still making work. Please read some of our testimonials here

Lets talk shipping, naturally you don't want to spend excess $$$ on shipping your slides but would like to feel secure that they will be safe. For this we suggest UPS, they do a great job with pricing, and at any given time you can log on and know exactly where in the country your slides are and feel safe about it. You can also do some things to save on the shipping size and weight, here are some ways we like to see:

Carousel box with slides seperated by strips of cardboard

Naturally you can still send them in the carousels. We do charge an extra 3 cents to remove the slides from the plastic binder pages or the aluminum Airquipt frames, doing so slows down the process for us and the price is geared towards bulk proceessing.

Extras
We have some services that we highly recomend, which is why we offer them of course :) The most popular and to me the most neccasary is the slide resizing. The files we scan and you receive which is included are large files, that is to say too big to fit on any monitor I am aware of at full size. They are great for print, they are great for archive and can be opened, edited by any program out there such as Photoshop or Corel Draw. Unfortunatally they are not so perfect to flip through casually. So you ask, why can't I get it scanned at the resolution that is better to be just viewed. For us it is the same effort either way, but it is like getting a military buzz cut and then deciding you want something else. There is just not much you can do if you don't start with the large files. Once you get the good ones we like to resize them to a more appropriate size, about 1.3MP which gives you a file 40 times smaller, and yet still fills up your screen. For this it is an extra $0.05 each and you get both sets of files, high and low-res.

The next one is the DVD video, this is $30 for each 1000 photos. WAIT, didn't I say your slides were scanned to DVD for $0.19 each? what is this extra $30? Let me explain, a DVD video is different than a DVD with files on it, much like an audio CD you can use in your car is different from the ones containing the songs for your Ipod. Some DVD players will play these disks by default, but many others need it to be made into an actual movie. This process takes us a few extra hours of computer time for each 1000 photos. I could put more on, but the ammount of time you would see each photo would be too short to be much fun. With 1000, you get around 4 seconds per picture and seems to be a good feel to it.

In addition to scanning slides, we will also transfer any of your old camcorder (8mm, HI8, Digital8, VHSC, MiniDV) to DVD for you for just $20 each.
